2010 Nominations - Ray and Stephanie Lane Center for Computational Biology - Carnegie Mellon University

2010 Nominations

The Lane Fellow Program recognizes and supports scientists of outstanding intellect who are dedicated to a career at the interface of computational and biological sciences so that they can pursue postdoctoral research in the rich computational environment at Carnegie Mellon. Candidates may be nominated by their thesis advisor, department head, or a Lane Center faculty member. Absent special circumstances, nominees must have received their doctoral degree after August 1, 2008 or be expected to receive their degree by August 1, 2010. The nominator must provide a letter of recommendation that describes the significance of the candidate's past work, their qualifications for interdisciplinary work, and the basis for considering them as potential future leaders in computational biology.

Nominations must be received by November 15, 2009.

After initial review, some nominees will be invited to interview in person or via telephone.  After the interview, candidates will be responsible for identifying a research advisor at Carnegie Mellon and submitting a short application describing their plans if selected.

Lane Fellows will receive a stipend of $60,000, full fringe benefits including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, and a professional support allocation of $6,000 to cover items such as purchase of a laptop computer, travel to conferences, membership in relevant professional societies, and journal subscriptions.

Lane Fellows will be selected for a three year appointment beginning approximately July 1, 2010. Interview invitations will be sent by January 1, 2010 and successful candidates will be notified by March 31, 2010.
